Stuart Gulliver
Stuart Gulliver is Group Chief Executive of HSBC Holdings plc. He is also Chairman of The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited.
Mr Gulliver joined HSBC in 1980 and has held a number of key roles in the Group’s operations worldwide, including postings in London, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Kuala Lumpur and the United Arab Emirates.
Before his appointment as Group Chief Executive of HSBC Holdings plc, he was Chairman of Europe, Middle East and Global Businesses of HSBC Holdings plc. He was appointed Chief Executive of Global Banking and Markets and HSBC Global Asset Management in May 2006.
He is Deputy Chairman of the Supervisory Committee of HSBC Trinkaus & Burkhardt AG (since September 2007; member since May 2006); non-Executive Chairman and a Director of HSBC France since January 2009; and Chairman of HSBC Private Banking Holdings (Suisse) SA since February 2010 (Director since September 2007). He has been Chairman of The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited since January 2011 (Director since September 2006).
He has also served on the boards of HSBC USA Inc, HSBC Bank USA, N.A., HSBC Bank plc and HSBC Bank Middle East Limited.
Mr Gulliver was appointed to the Group Management Board in March 2004 and became a Group General Manager in August 2000. He has been an Executive Director of HSBC Holdings plc since May 2008.
He attended Oxford University where he received a Masters Degree in Jurisprudence.
